We know, we know: Joey Chestnut’s got nothing on you. Rep your hot dog eating skills and pound another frank or two (or forty-five, or seventy-two…) with all the condiments you can manage. Wieners rule!
According to legend, on July 4th 1916, four immigrants held a hot dog-eating contest at Nathan’s Famous stand on Coney Island to settle an argument about who was the most patriotic. The contest has been held at the site every year since 1972, with the winner gaining the coveted mustard-yellow belt and $10,000 in prize money.
