At 11-0 and already the winningest season in Bearcats football history, perhaps, you’d think little was on the line for the #5 Cincinnati in their final 2009 regular season game against #15 Pittsburgh. You’d have it twisted, as that coveted undefeated regular season and BCS bowl game waited in the wings. As history would have, no game proved tighter during the “Season to Remember” than that final regular season one.
Of course, there was Cincinnati’s game nine contest against Connecticut that went down to the wire 47-45—but they were never trailing by 21 points, as they were against Pittsburgh in the second quarter. Bringing it to within two touchdowns by half, your Bearcats kept hope alive, and, with a monster fourth quarter, they rallied behind three touchdowns to win 45-44. The game sealed the undefeated season, a Sugar Bowl berth and the #4 ranking in the nation. Pay homage to the final season of the Brian Kelly-coaching era, and gear up for more history at Nippert Stadium.
