University of Kentucky Wildcat Attack

$32

1909: Ohio's William Howard Taft becomes President. The Manhattan Bridge is finished. And most importantly, the Wildcats tradition officially begins.

After a particularly hard-fought victory on the gridiron against Illinois, Commandant Philip W. Corbusier gave a rousing speech from the pulpit of University Chapel, in which he declared that Kentucky “fought like wildcats." The name stuck, and now is synonymous with one of the most elite athletic traditions in the NCAA. Pay homage.
