Few Buckeye football seasons have been more dominant than that of 1968. Under legendary head coach Woody Hayes and with quarterback Rex Kern at the helm, Ohio State went undefeated in regular season play, winning games by an average of 18 points.
But the regular season was just warm-up for what was to come at the 1969 Rose Bowl.
One of the rare times the number one seed met the number two in a bowl game before the college football postseason was restructured in 1998, Ohio State and USC faced off for the consensus national championship. Falling into an 11-0 hole, the Buckeyes rallied and smashed through to victory 27-16, handing Ohio State its fifth national title. The season produced 11 Buckeye All-Americans and six first-round NFL picks. Pay homage to the Scarlet and Gray.
