BGSU have been the Falcons since 1927, and for good reason—just like their school of record, the birds pack a powerful punch for their size.
Freddie Falcon first appeared in 1950, and was joined by lil’ sis Freida in 1980. The avian siblings gained particular acclaim in 2006 when they were named Best Mascot at the 2006 NCAA Cheer Camp. Pay homage.
While football festivities for most schools start at the tailgate on Saturday mornings, Freddies and Friedas such as yourselves know the gridiron game-day prep truly begins on Falcon Fridays. And with good reason. Winning the MAC 10 times, your Brown and Orange have been putting the power in powerhouse since their first conference title in 1956. Get ready for another season of action down at Doyt Perry Stadium, especially the Battle of I-75, and fly the Bowling Green flag with this iconic throwback. Ay Ziggy Zoomba Zoomba Ze, roll along you BG warriors!
After crushing consistent MAC-powerhouses Miami University and Ohio U 45-3 and 49-0 in the 2013 football season, your Bowling Green Falcons landed the MAC’s East Division and headed to the conference championship in pursuit of their 11th title. Their opponent? The two-time defending MAC Champs and 18th-ranked Northern Illinois Huskies, who were running an undefeated record in their last 25 conference games.
Despite the Huskies entering as heavy favorites, your Falcons were hardly intimidated, having notched a 9-3 regular-season behind the unrelenting arm of quarterback Matt Johnson. And once Johnson’s gunslinging began in the championship game, there was no ceasefire. He connected for 393 yards and five touchdowns to architect one of the greatest upsets in MAC Championship history, baging BG its first MAC title in more than 20 years. Don’t let the cold keep you from watching your Falcons take #12 down at Doyt Perry Stadium. Ay Ziggy Zoomba!
When you say, “Ay Ziggy Zoomba Zoomba Zoomba,” your young’un immediately shouts, “Ay Ziggy Zoomba Zoomba Ze,” and thus, the apple of your eye has officially become a Falcon. Now it’s time to outfit the little one for game day down at Doyt Perry Stadium. Show the Freddies and Friedas of the world you’re raising the youngster right and that the Brown and Orange future has never been in better hands with this classic tee!
