In the lockout-shortened 1994-95 NHL season, left winger John LeClair was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers, and joined center Eric Lindros and right winger Mikael Renberg. Because of their offensive play and their ability to dominate games physically, journeyman center Jim Montgomery named the line “The Legion of Doom”. During the three seasons the line played together, the trio scored 305 goals, notched 361 assists and tallied 631 penalty minutes, leading the Flyers to three playoff appearances and run to the Stanley Cup finals in 1997.
