    The Story
The most infamously notable game of the Cleveland Browns’ 2001 season came during week 14. As the Browns drove against the visiting Jaguars for what would have been the winning score, wide receiver Quincy Morgan caught a pass for first down on fourth-and-one. On the next play, quarterback Tim Couch spiked the ball to stop the clock, but referee Terry McAulay announced that Morgan’s catch was under review.

After a lengthy review (during which the Cleveland Dawg Pound threw beer bottles and other detritus onto the field), McAulay ruled Morgan’s catch an incomplete pass, then declared the game over and sent the teams to their locker rooms under a hail of bottles and trash.

NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue called the game supervisor to override the decision, sending the players back onto the field after a 30-minute delay. The Jaguars ran out the final seconds and the Browns lost, 15-10.
