There are myriad legends about the Youngstown native and Browns quarterback, but perhaps the most storied came towards the end of Bernie Kosar’s tenure in Cleveland. On Sunday, November 7th 1993, Kosar reportedly ignored coach Bill Belichick’s playcalling in a game against Denver, coming up with his own fourth-quarter 38-yard pass play to receiver Michael Jackson (which resulted in a touchdown). In the postgame press conference, Kosar told the media he’d literally drawn the play “up in the dirt.”
