The Nasty Boys were Norm Charlton, Rob Dibble and Randy Myers, a trio of relief pitchers from the Cincinnati Reds. In 1990, the Nasty Boys were instrumental in the Reds' charge to the World Championship, combining for 44 saves and 351 strikeouts.

The nickname originated during the Reds' first visit to Houston in 1990 when a reporter told Myers that Astros first baseman Glenn Davis was furious after being hit by a pitch three times.

"Our lockers were all in a row and Randy told him, 'Well, they want to start a beanball war, we're ready,' " Charlton said. "The reporter said, 'That's pretty nasty.' And Randy said, 'Well, we're three nasty boys.' And that's how it all started."
