Since the 1860s, the Dartmouth College sports teams haven’t had a mascot. Originally dubbed “The Big Green” because of the school’s primary color, the 1920s saw Dartmouth nicknamed “The Indians,” which became the unofficial mascot and team name until the early ‘70s, when school officials deemed it objective. In 2003, the campus humor magazine suggested an anthropomorphic beer keg, aptly named “Keggy the Keg,” which "wasn't racist, biased or sexist, yet [was] entirely unacceptable.
