In 1970, former FBI agent Jim Lorimer was asked to chair the Mr. World contest in Columbus, and he invited the top six bodybuilders in the world—including a young Austrian named Arnold Schwarzenegger. The pair began promoting contests and events, and in 1989, Lorimer and Schwarzenegger founded the Arnold Classic (now called the Arnold Sports Festival), which has evolved into one of the largest fitness expos in the world. The Festival welcomes more than 180,000 athletes annually who compete in nearly 50 events, including 12 Olympic sports. Along with the Mr. Olympia competition, the
Arnold Festival is considered the most lucrative strongman event in the world.
