To say Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon had a flair for the dramatic would be a gross understatement. It’s true that McMahon had to wear the dark sunglasses for medical reasons, but the headbands were all flash. When NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle fined McMahon in 1985 for wearing a headband with an unauthorized corporate logo, the following week McMahon responded with a plain white headband emblazoned simply with “ROZELLE” in black marker. In Super Bowl XX, McMahon wore a “JDF Cure” headband to bring attention to juvenile Diabetes before switching to “POW-MIA” and finally “Pluto” (the nickname of a friend with a brain tumor).

I'm the punky QB, known as McMahon.
When I hit the turf, I've got no plan.
I just throw my body all over the field.
I can't dance, but I can throw the pill.
I motivate the cats, I like to tease.
I play so cool, I aim to please.
That's why you all got here on the double
To catch me doin' the Super Bowl Shuffle.

A portion of this headband's proceeds benefits The Lynda McMahon Ferguson Memorial Foundation for Literacy. The foundation was created in 2008 to further the awareness and goals of addressing literacy issues, including the improvement of reading instruction for children, youth, and adults.
